ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Jeff Wyckoff and Virgil Wong are artists dedicated to developing new works about medicine and science. Mr. Wyckoff, a Principal Associate at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, is conducting cancer research as director of intravital imaging. Mr. Wong, Head of Web Development at Weill Cornell Medical College, is building advanced Internet applications for patient care, research, and education. Metabodies: Medicine and Media presents a creative laboratory between these two classically-trained artists and their shared critical focus on medical research and the human body.

Metabodies features a large-scale Exquisite Corpse drawing created by the two artists specifically for the exhibition. Also included in the show by Wyckoff are an AIDS altarpiece, "foetus" jars, and the film God is a DJ - featuring a soundtrack generated from the DNA sequence of seven proteins involved in the motility pathway. Virgil Wong will be introducing the world's first pregnant man, a medical kiosk for real-time genetic cloning and reproduction, and drawings of the human cadaver.
